ACADEMIC SUCCESS
Imagine Schools at Great Western Academy in Columbus, Ohio, has made tremendous academic gains since opening in 2003. We are the only elementary charter school to receive the status of effective as designated by the state of Ohio. This was determined through statewide proficiency testing. Here are some of our successes:
Ohio Achievement Test 2004-2005
Ohio Achievement Tests are given to all students in grades 3-12. 75% of your students in each grade must be at least proficient or higher to meet AYP.
Great Western Academy was a K-3 school with 200 students. We had one third grade classroom of 30 students.
80% of our third grade students were proficient or higher in reading.
75% of our third grade students were proficient or higher in math.

Ohio Achievement Test 2005-2006
- Great Western Academy was a K-4 school with 350 students. We had one third and fourth grade classroom. Each Classroom had 30 students.
- 91% of our third grade students were proficient or higher in reading.
- 87% of our third grade students were proficient or higher in math.
- 88% of our fourth grade students were proficient or higher in writing.
- 80% of our fourth grade students were proficient or higher in math.
- 70% of our fourth grade students were proficient or higher in reading.
- GWA met AYP and received an effective rating.
Stanford 10 Test 2005-2006
- GWA participated in the Stanford 10 test to show learning gains per student.
- Kindergarten students averaged learning gains of 1.7 per year in reading and 1.5 in math.
- 1-4 grade students averaged learning gains of 1.5.
Direct Instruction Learning Gains
- 2003-2004 Students at GWA averaged learning gains of 1.0.
- 2004-2005 Students at GWA averaged learning gains of 1.2. 75% of our kindergarten students completed the first grade reading and math program.
- 2005-2006 Students at GWA averaged learning gains of 1.5. 85% of our kindergarten students completed the first grade reading and math program.
